Guard Elijah Carter (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony) is headed to the Atlantic 10 after choosing St. Bonaventure Tuesday afternoon.

The Bonnies chased the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder for months, after waiting five weeks following his official visit to the Olean, N.Y. campus. Carter's verbal is good news for coach Mark Schmidt's program, which lost post-graduate point guard Anthony Ireland (Waterbury, Conn./Winchendon), who opted for Loyola-Marymount.

"I really liked my visit; the players, coaches and campus," Carter said. "My education is really important and the chance to play at the highest level and challenge my game was important."
