Leaner, meaner defense has Arl. Bowie soaring

As distasteful as enduring a 59-35 loss to a rival was for Kenny Perry, the Arlington Bowie coach now sees that defeat as the turning point in his team's season.

"It was after that loss to Arlington that we knew we had to make changes on defense,'' Perry said.

So on the last week of October, the Volunteers had four new defensive starters that made the team smaller, but faster.
