Elam first to leave UF since Meyer decision

Four-star athlete Matt Elam has backed out of a long-standing commitment to Florida and is committing to Florida State. "I'm going to Florida State because I see a better opportunity for me and I want to be a difference maker," Elam said on Thursday. Elam, ranked No. 13 in the ESPNU 150 and is the second-ranked athlete in the class, committed to the Gators during his junior season and though he took visits to Florida State and Georgia, as well as Florida, during the season, he said he was still going to be a Gator. He is the first Florida commit to leave the Gators since Urban Meyer announced last week that he will take a leave of absence following the Sugar Bowl.
