Kentucky coach Rich Brooks announced his retirement Monday. He will be replaced by offensive head coach Joker Phillips.

Brooks did an excellent job with the Wildcats' program, taking UK to four consecutive bowl games at the end of his tenure. A big reason for this success was Phillips' recruiting ability.

Phillips, a Kentucky graduate, was heavily involved in recruiting in-state talent to UK. He also did a good job of evaluating under-the-radar talent from Georgia and South Carolina.
