In case you haven't noticed, Colorado Avalanche center Matt Duchene has taken over the rookie scoring lead. The Ontario native, who turned 19 last Saturday, has been particularly hot of late, putting up four goals and two assists in his last four games.

Through 49 games, Duchene has 33 points. That's two more points than New York Islanders rookie John Tavares, who has played one more game.

While the top of the league's rookie scoring race is interesting, I wanted to focus this week's rookie blog on some guys who've been quietly helping their respective teams. Here are three freshmen who aren't getting enough attention for their good work.
