2011 QB Kessler would like to stay close to home

A talented 2011 quarterback to watch this spring will be Cody Kessler (Bakersfield, Calif./Centennial). He opened a lot of eyes last summer during the Nike Camp tour and was rated the top underclassman signal caller at the loaded Elite 11 regional workout in Berkeley last May. Kessler missed four games during the season with a high ankle sprain, but still put up big numbers throwing for 2,169 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 290 yards and eight scores. New Mexico State has offered and several other schools are showing heavy interest. "It sounds like Washington State could be close to offering as well," Kessler said. "They came by the school three times and my coach told me they have a lot of interest but don't like to do a lot of early offers. They like to evaluate quarterbacks more in the spring and I totally understand that.
