Dexter McCluster has been one of my favorite players to watch for quite some time. The guy came to Ole Miss as an unheralded, three-star recruit. He weighed less than 160 pounds. My first day down in Oxford was the day before he signed, and when the Rebels' staff showed me his tape, I was blown away. I couldn't believe I hadn't heard much about him nationally.

Turns out, he made an impact instantly, piling up an amazing 268 all-purpose yards in his first career game against Memphis. This year, he was the SEC's most dynamic player and is coming off a dazzling week at the Senior Bowl. I've heard from lots of coaches down at the AFCA convention in Orlando about how they're all trying to find "the next McCluster," so I asked the guy who found him in Largo, Fla., Matt Lubick, now Arizona State's recruiting coordinator, about the process and the challenges of chasing a really small, fast player.

Q: What do you remember most about recruiting Dexter McCluster?
