In CBB betting, a coach's style matters
This Week's College Basketball Handicapping Winning Thought With Alan Boston: When A Coach's Style Matters.
Straight from Boston to you, with almost no interruptions:
"Normally, how good a coach is gets wrapped up in the power rating. You don't need to really think about a coach-on-coach matchup until it gets into March, when they have a few days to prepare and gameplan for opponents. And we'll talk about the coaches I trust, and don't, before the tournament.
"But there are times when you know a coach's style will dictate how a game goes. This past week Southern Miss went to Houston. If you get Houston in a half court game it loses its mind. Bad shots start flying everywhere and what is usually a decently coached team turns into a bunch of idiots. Well, right now Southern Miss, with Larry Eustachy is playing a grind it out game. I knew that would drive Houston nuts. And Southern Miss did beat Houston in a low scoring game."
