Pitchers looking to solidify early status

What I was most interested in on the first full day of the D-1 baseball schedule was how well the top arms would start their season. With so many high school names littering the Pre-season Top 50 but likely fitting into the bottom half of that range, it's the college starting pitcher that has the chance to improve the class. The thinking is that if Ohio State's Alex Wimmers shows a consistent uptick in velocity, or if Drew Pomeranz of Ole Miss finds a way to show significant progress in terms of command, they each could solidify themselves in the Top 10 picture, and getting off early is typically a good sign, since they have limited opportunities -- pitching once a week -- to reclaim status after a mediocre start to the season.
