Give the man a break

As we all know, Kevin VanDam won the 2010 Bassmaster Classic on Lay Lake last week. He dominated the field on the final day to turn a 2-ounce deficit into a 5-pound margin of victory. When the scales told the story up on the stage, KVD was elated. He pumped his fist, raised the trophy high over his head and began his third reign as Classic champion, this time with the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year award also in tow. It was an exciting moment and a defining one for VanDam and fishing fans. With the win, I think he ends whatever debate there might have been about who's the best ever to fish competitively. Clearly, it's Kevin. But as I was watching him at the press conference afterward, the question I got asked a couple of times was "Why isn't he more excited?" or "Why isn't he showing more enthusiasm?"
