Augusta sets a high standard, for players and patrons
This story appears in the April 5 issue of ESPN The Magazine.
The folks at Augusta National have long prided themselves on providing a perfect environment for both competitors and patrons at the Masters. In 1967, tournament co-founder Bobby Jones put those principles in writing. Jones' "message" is all of four sentences, but this year his prose has taken on even more meaning, especially for the competition's most famous participant. Allow us to elucidate.
"In golf, customs of etiquette and decorum are just as important as rules governing play."
To see what else Bobby Jones wrote and how it applies to this year's Masters, you must be an ESPN Insider.
