Houston Astros starting pitcher Brett Myers suffered a mild groin strain while covering first base in the sixth inning Thursday. However, Myers, who has a 6.05 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in five spring starts, said he expects to make his first start in April as scheduled.

Minnesota Twins lefty Francisco Liriano fanned six Tampa Bay Rays in four innings Thursday, allowing seven hits and two runs. The fact that Liriano threw 67 pitches is a strong indication the team isn't planning on moving him to the closer role. Liriano has 22 strikeouts and two walks in 14 spring innings.
