What to watch for: The season begins!

It all begins on Sunday night, when Josh Beckett throws the first pitch of the season to Derek Jeter. It has been six months since Alexi Casilla hit the final pitch of the 2009 season, a weak offering from a tired Fernando Rodney, into right field for the game-winning hit that decided the AL Central title, and officially ended the fantasy baseball season in overtime. Now a new season is just 48 hours away. Are you ready?

The most obvious thing I will be watching this weekend is actual baseball. Man, I've been waiting months for this! In this regular workweek-ending Friday blog, here are things to watch for, from a fantasy baseball angle. If you've been putting off things like chores and taxes and spending time with family, I recommend handling them this weekend. There's only one major league baseball game. We won't say that again until … October!
