How to think about Jimmy Clausen

I read an interesting story by my friend Michael Silver about former Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB Jimmy Clausen the other day. The crux of the article was about negative perceptions of Clausen in regards to comments made by ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay questioning the QB's maturity and leadership skills. I know McShay has probably been asked about Clausen and his criticism probably 78 times in the past two months. His reaction here, in a spirited debate with Mel Kiper, is about skepticism around the NFL about Clausen. Just from this clip, the skepticism surrounding Clausen is about the NFL's perception of him -- not necessarily what his ND teammates thought of him. That's a noteworthy distinction. Does it have merits?
After the jump: more on evaluating Clausen as a QB and a person -- plus how Clemson can become a top-25 team even without C.J. Spiller in 2010. Go get it -- if you're an Insider.
