The Texas Longhorns continued their recruiting dominance in the Lone Star State on Monday by picking up a commitment from defensive tackle Quincy Russell (San Antonio, Texas/Sam Houston). The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder picked the Longhorns over offers from Baylor, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Stanford and SMU, among others. Russell, who could also receive looks at offensive guard at the next level, is the second defensive tackle commitment in the Longhorns' 2011 class. Desmond Jackson (Houston/Westfield), a 2011 Under Armour All-American, committed to the Longhorns February 13. Texas inked the nation's No. 2 class in February featuring an elite group of defensive linemen and linebackers. Texas has five front seven prospects committed in the 2011 class, including versatile linebackers Steve Edmond (Daingerfield, Texas/Daingerfield) and Kendall Thompson (Carthage, Texas/Carthage). Both prospects could play linebacker and/or defensive end on the next level.
