Tressel hosts big weekend

It was a big weekend in Big Ten country as spring games were held at Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State. None of the three schools netted any new commitments, but that may soon change as Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel seems close to landing a talented tight end. Close to 65,000 fans were in Ohio Stadium on Saturday for OSU's spring game and Tressel welcomed in an excellent group of prospects, including tight end Jeff Heuerman (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier). The 6-foot-5 and 230-pounder visited Michigan and Notre Dame on Wednesday, Purdue on Thursday and Ohio State on Friday and Saturday. Heuerman has almost two dozen scholarship offers. In addition to Ohio State, Michigan and Purdue, he also has offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, South Florida, Boston College, West Virginia, Maryland, Kansas, Memphis and Rutgers.
