Despite hip, Connolly could make draft run
F Brett Connolly (No. 3 North American skater) of Prince George (WHL) could be a hip choice in the coming NHL draft -- that is, if he puts concerns about a bum hip behind him.
Connolly missed most of this season with a bad hip injury, and that was a big concern for many scouts. However, he did recently play for Team Canada at the U-18 World Championship, which might have gone a long way in reassuring teams that he's OK.
And if those concerns are quelled, he might establish himself as the clear No. 3 prospect in the draft. NHL Central Scouting's E.J. McGuire told Islanders Point Blank, "If Connolly is healthy, there are many teams in the league that will have him ranked right at the top of the draft with Tyler Seguin and Taylor Hall." One scout added, "He seems to be answering most of the questions now. We still have him high on our list. Very high."
