Brazil's Carlos Burle named first-ever "Big Wave World Champion."

What a weekend for big wave surfing! Friday night saw the XXL go off, celebrating the highlights of one of the best winters ever for monster waves. On Saturday night, Carlos Burle was crowned the first world champion of big-wave surfing before an intimate gathering of the some of the best surfers on the planet at the Surfing Heritage Foundation in San Clemente, Calif.
