Toronto Blue Jays catcher John Buck smacked three home runs in Thursday's game against the Oakland Athletics. Buck entered the game hitting .155 with one home run in 58 at-bats, though he does possess power, having hit 18 in 2007. The last catcher with three home runs in a game was Victor Martinez in July 2004.

• Buck homered off Justin Duchscherer, who allowed four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings, before leaving with a sore left hip. The oft-injured Duchscherer missed 2009 because of an elbow injury, and previously had a right hip problem, and he's no stranger to the DL. Trevor Cahill has been called up to replace Brett Anderson, so Vin Mazzaro would likely get the next opportunity.
