Jeff Skinner is one to watch
At this year's CHL prospects game in January, all eyes were on Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin and Cam Fowler, the likely headliners in June's NHL draft. But after winning the Breakaway Challenge in the skills contest the night before, Kitchener Rangers center Jeff Skinner potted a goal and an assist for Team Orr in their 4-2 loss to Team Cherry, stealing a bit of the spotlight for himself.
Back then, the Markham, Ontario native was ranked No. 47 in NHL Central Scouting's ranking of North American skaters. He was midway though a season in which he would tally 50 goals and 40 assists for 90 points in 64 games with Kitchener. His 50 goals led the OHL (it was two more than Seguin and 10 more than Hall) and helped him move up to No. 34 in Central Scouting's final rankings.
Keep reading for some intel on Skinner. A Western scout really likes him -- see the quotes after the jump. Bonus: who does he compare to in today's game? We got that for you too -- if you're an Insider.
