Smoltz, Scobee, Longwell fall short

John Smoltz's dream of qualifying for the U.S. Open is over.

The retired major league pitcher parred his final three holes but finished at 6-over-par at the Marietta (Ga.) Country Club and failed to birdie a hole on Monday, preventing him from advancing to the sectional round.
