Verhoeven drawing interest from Pac-10

Grant Verhoeven (Visalia, Calif./Central Valley Christian School), a 6-7 sophomore power forward, has put together a phenomenal spring campaign. Although he still has two more years of high school basketball, his skill level and savviness trump most players his age. However, this isn't that surprising considering his father, Pete, was a standout at Fresno State under the Boyd Grant regime. Verhoeven, who plays for the Central California based Organize Chaos Elite, is beginning to garner interest from the likes of Fresno State, USC and Stanford. The hybrid 4-man has a high basketball IQ and is deceptively bouncy in the paint area. Plus, his footwork in the post is quite good and he has terrific hands. In terms of school interest, he is pretty much wide open at this stage, but he said he would like to stay on the West Coast.
