Don't worry about Latos', Hughes' workload
With each terrific pitching performance over the past few days by San Diego Padres right-hander Mat Latos, New York Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes and Texas Rangers lefty C.J. Wilson, I've heard the same, somewhat negative reaction from fantasy baseball owners: Will these guys help me in September, and should I be selling high?
There is some concern here, I suppose, because the Padres and Yankees have made it clear their young power arms will not be pushed close to 200 innings. So fantasy owners worry these great numbers will simply cease. In Wilson's case, he's been a relief pitcher for years and expecting him to add more than 100 innings onto what he hurled last year could be extreme. However, from a fantasy baseball perspective, this practice of expecting the worst seems premature. There are months to go before worry should set in, if at all.
