After reading yesterday's story by Mark Schlabach on conference rankings I was curious to see how Florida prep signees in the Class of 2010 broke down by conference. With nearly 70 percent of the 300-plus prospects that signed scholarships with FBS schools heading to out-of-state programs, it's no surprise that there is a former Sunshine State star everywhere you look. In the BCS schools, the ACC led the way with 48 signees -- obviously boosted by having two major in-state programs (FSU and Miami) in the conference. The SEC was second with 46 signees and the Big East was third with 45. After that, the Big Ten signed 31 Florida prep prospects, the Big 12 signed 16 and the Pac-10 inked four -- the same amount that BCS independent Notre Dame signed from the state. As for the non-BCS programs, the Sun Belt, buoyed by Florida Atlantic and Florida International, signed 51 Florida prospects. Conference USA signed 38, Mid-American signed 27, Mountain West signed 16 and the WAC signed three.
