Hockey auction helps children's hospital
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- An online auction of some Canadian Olympic hockey jerseys has raised $94,000 to help rebuild a children's hospital in Haiti.
The aution was part of the Hockey for Haiti relief initiative conducted by the NHL Players' Association to help the earthquake-ravaged nation.
The sale of 23 Canadian jerseys -- worn in Canada's Feb. 23 victory over Germany -- ended May 18 with Sidney Crosby's jersey fetching $37,100. Jonathan Toews' jersey went for $7,600, while ...
