A word (or 500) on versatility

One of the best things about my job is that I get to meet and talk with a lot of fishing pros. I'm usually picking their brains on the tools and tactics they use to catch bass all over the country. It's fun, and it's definitely made me a better bass fisherman.

But lately — over the past few years at least — I've run into something that's starting to get a little annoying. The pros have taken one of my favorite questions away from me.

I have a few favorite questions that I like to ask: What did you do differently from the other guys to win this tournament? What modifications did you make to the bait that helped you catch fish? If you could bring back one lure that's out of production, what would it be?
