Former Cardinal coach Haynie dies
MORRO BAY, Calif. -- Former Stanford swimming coach Tom Haynie has died.
The school announced Wednesday that Haynie died at a care facility in Santa Barbara last weekend. He was 94.
Haynie was the second swimming coach ever at Stanford. He won 11 conference titles during his tenure from 1947-60.
Haynie coached 100-yard freestyle world record holder Robin Moore and Olympians George Harrison and Paul Hait during his time at Stanford. He compiled an 84-9 dual meet record.
