Contador fastest in Dauphine prologue

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France -- Two-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has won the prologue of the Criterium du Dauphine.

The Spaniard completed the 4.2-mile time trial around Evian-les-Bains on Sunday in 8 minutes, 34 seconds. Tejay Van Garderen of the United States was the runner-up, two seconds behind.

Contador has already won three races this season: Tour of Algarve, Vuelta de Castilla and Leon and Paris-Nice.
