Fairfield poised to make NCAA tournament

Fairfield coach Ed Cooley and his staff built a solid recruiting class by the fall signing period, but their work in the spring makes the class arguably the best in the MAAC. Power forward Adam Jones (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park), point guard Jamel Fields (Albany, N.Y./Cheshire Academy) small forward and Keith Matthews (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) all signed in November, but since then the Stags have landed two more high school players and two transfers who have the potential to do big things. Maurice Barrow (Middle Village, N.Y./Christ the King), a 6-4 wing, was the first to commit, while Majok Majok (Northfield, Mass./Northfield-Mt. Hermon) gives the Stags the jewel of their class. He's a 6-8 big man who turned down multiple high-major offers to come to Fairfield.
