Young a great player but better teammate
Michael Young broke the Texas Rangers' franchise hit record the other day. With 1,750 hits, six All-Star Game appearances and a .303 career average, he has a chance to be a candidate for the Hall of Fame at the end of his career.
Young probably has done enough to be regarded in an elite class of players that includes the likes of Tony Perez, Trevor Hoffman, Mariano Rivera, Joe Mauer and Jeff Bagwell -- great players who have been considered great teammates.
To read why Michael Young's demeanor on and off the field sets him apart, plus notes on the Mets interest in Fausto Carmona and how Stephen Strasburg's efficiency is approaching rarefied air, you must be an ESPN Insider.
