NFL Draft Profile: Ryan Mallett
Ryan Mallett didn't start out as a quarterback, but it wasn't for lack of trying. He was just flat-out too big to play anywhere else.
"I've always been a big kid," Mallett says. "The first year I ever played I was an offensive guard, because there was a weight limit."
A year later, in the seventh grade, Mallett would step under center, where he's remained ever since -- and with good reason. His 6-foot-7 frame not only erases any difficulty in seeing over his offensive line, but comes attached to what may be the strongest arm in college football.
