Bits: Ricky Romero dominates Yankees
Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Ricky Romero went the distance at Yankee Stadium Tuesday, allowing two hits and two runs in the Jays' 8-2 win. Romero is having a far better second half than last season's disaster; he's won three of four starts since the All-Star break, and his ERA is 2.05. Don't sell high.
Speaking of the Yankees, Marcus Thames served as the designated hitter Tuesday instead of Lance Berkman. Those who expect big numbers from the former Houston Astros first baseman certainly don't want him platooning, even though Berkman is hitting .188 against southpaws this season.
