Lee Westwood pulls out of Bridgestone
AKRON, Ohio -- Lee Westwood came to the Bridgestone Invitational with hopes of overtaking Tiger Woods for No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking, but instead he hobbled through two rounds of play before withdrawing from the tournament.
After shooting a second-round 76 on Friday, Westwood, ranked third in the world, withdrew because of a throbbing right calf that has been bothering him for the better part of a month. He will also skip next week's PGA Championship.
