Terrelle Pryor readies for the leap
All signs point to this being a big year for the Buckeyes quarterback
People have always paid closer attention to Terrelle Pryor than to others: be it his effortless running style, his occasional brilliance, the drama surrounding his recruitment, his all-world status as a high schooler or any number of other characteristics, he has always seen plenty of press and focus.
Even with all that limelight, the one thing no seems to agree upon is the simple basis of what he does for the Ohio State Buckeyes: Is he a good QB?
Many mention Pryor as a 2010 Heisman front-runner -- especially with the recent injury to Mark Ingram that might cause him to miss two games -- pointing to his great Rose Bowl against the Oregon Ducks and/or his similarities to another huge athlete who made it big in his third season, Vince Young.
Others scoff at the notion that Pryor is anything better than average, pointing to various stinkers personified by low completion percentages and low total yardage (remember the loss to the Purdue Boilermakers last October?)
Pryor has received increasing expectations and skepticism in his two seasons in Columbus. What can Football Outsiders' advanced statistics tell us about the quarterback who begins his junior season tonight against the Marshall Thundering Herd?
