Cliff Lee bounces back nicely
Texas Rangers left-hander Cliff Lee bounced back from a terrible August with eight innings of two-hit, one-run ball against the New York Yankees on Sunday. Lee missed his previous start with a sore back. In August, he was 1-4 with a 6.35 ERA, so some fantasy owners might have benched him. Lee is safe for fantasy use.
Similarly, Los Angeles Angels right-hander Dan Haren is 100 percent owned, but his second-half performance has suffered in recent seasons. Not this year. Haren tossed seven shutout innings Sunday, allowing three hits. His ERA in his past four outings is an even 1.00. Don't worry about post-All-Star break numbers in 2011 drafts.
