Chiefs, Cowboys learn draft lessons

K.C.'s draft for diversity is already paying off, while Dallas' line remains a problem

When the NFL draft concluded in April, two teams on opposite ends of the talent spectrum got identical grades. The Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs got a B-minus (which is a decent grade), but they got their marks for different reasons.

For Kansas City, I said, while I would have liked to see them add a little help on the lines, they deserve credit because "they added players you'll notice." It was a team with a roster full of holes, and it drafted players that would be on the field and asked to make plays soon. Kansas City wasn't in a position to marinate talent and drafted accordingly. Already in Week 1, we saw just that.
