The preseason schedule got underway on Tuesday evening; there were nine games, including something of an oddity -- or at least, it was an oddity for me. I don't remember a night where two teams played two games against each other in two different cities. It might have happened before during a previous exhibition slate, I just don't remember it.
The Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks faced off in a pair of split-squad games, one at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary and the other at GM Place in Vancouver. It was a good night for the Flames, who won both games. They can only hope they'll do so well when they start playing for real in a few more weeks.
With that, here's installment No. 5 of my quick-looks at each division, giving you a best and worst of their summer moves/changes. This will be the Northwest. As always, check out the 'Summer Skate' series I worked on with Puck Prospectus for even more preseason intel.
