Kiper: Stock Watch
A week after Jake Locker struggled, Ryan Mallett notched kinks in his own draft stock
For the second week in a row, one of the top pro prospects at the quarterback position failed to get the job done. Last week, Washington's Jake Locker struggled out of the gate in the Huskies' game against Nebraska and proceeded to have a terrible game. Arkansas' Ryan Mallett, on the other hand, looked great for a good portion of the Razorbacks' game against Alabama. Then, with 6:01 to go in the fourth quarter and the Razorbacks up three points, he imploded. I realize Bama's Courtney Upshaw got some penetration into the backfield, disrupting Mallett's footwork on his second interception of the day, but you simply cannot make that bad of a throw -- especially at that point in the game.
It got worse.
