Defensive experiments for U.S.

CHESTER, Pa. -- After Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Colombia here, it doesn't take a fortune-teller to see that the U.S. will continue to rely on its midfielders for scoring punch for the near future, namely Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan, and hope that Jozy Altidore evolves from a player who flashes finishing to one who nets goals consistently.

So we won't talk about the attack.

Instead, we will focus on the U.S. defense. It's in flux, and over the next two years -- at least -- is likely to be the more interesting, and more vital, side of the ball to watch.
