Cliff Lee's Rivera-like weapon
Andy Pettitte spoke Sunday, with some incredulity, about the perception that Cliff Lee doesn't have dominant stuff. And Lee's teammate Michael Young spoke along the same lines, after watching Lee completely trample the Yankees' lineup of stars, about how Lee makes the ball move.
So let's be clear: This is a weapon. What Lee has right now is a left-handed version of Mariano Rivera's cut fastball -- the movement on that pitch is so late, and so dramatic along a horizontal plane, that the hitters wind up flipping their bat pathetically at what they thought was there.
For a look at how Lee dominated the Yanks, whether Buster thinks Lee will be in pinstripes next year and some manager news, plus a ton of linkage, you must be an ESPN Insider.
