With only six ESPNU 100 players left on the board it is obvious that each of the remaining players will receive a lot of attention from high-major programs throughout the season prior to the late signing period. One player that has come out of the gate smoking is Trevor Lacey (Huntsville, Ala./Butler) who is averaging 44.5 points per game after the first two games of the season. In the early fall, his high school coach Jack Doss, who believes Lacey's natural position is at the point, said that if he turned Lacey loose "he could have a 50-point night with no problem, but he would probably rather have 20 assists instead." Well it looks as if Doss has turned his young protégé loose! Lacey, who scores most of his points within the offense, erupted for 50 points in Butler's season-opening 77-53 win against Parker. Three nights later Lacey continued his dominance in a 70-61 win over Sparkman, dropping 39 points. Lacey is scoring at phenomenal clip through efficient shooting from behind the three-point line (55 percent, 12 of 22) and free throw shooting (88 percent, 23 of 26).
