David Hawthorne signs extension

Seattle Seahawks linebacker David Hawthorne considered not reporting to training camp because he wanted a long-term deal, but his loyalty to the team was rewarded Tuesday with a contract extension.

Hawthorne signed a one-year, $1.38 million extension that will keep him in Seattle through the 2011 season. Hawthorne, an exclusive rights free agent during the 2010 offseason, signed a one-year tender that paid him $645,000 this season.
