New York gets fourth Breeders' Cup

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The 2001 Breeders' Cup will be run at Belmont Park, the fourth time the richest day in racing has been awarded to a New York racetrack.

This year's Breeders' Cup will be at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 6. The Breeders' Cup, in its 17th year, was held at Belmont in 1995 and 1990 and at Aqueduct in 1985.

"We are very pleased to bring the Breeders' Cup back to New York and Belmont Park," D.G. Van Clief, Jr., president of Breeders' Cup Ltd., said Friday. ...
