Dan Foesel commits to UMass

When three-star tight end Dan Foesel (Lincoln Park, N.J./DePaul Catholic) committed to the University of Massachusetts on Monday night, he didn't surrender the opportunity to play college football at the FBS level. UMass is expected to become a football-only member of the Mid-American Conference, perhaps before the start of next season. If UMass does elevate its program from the FCS to the FBS level, there would be a two-year transition period before UMass could become an official MAC member. "I felt UMass offered the best combination of things I was looking for: location, academics, football -- and with the move to the MAC conference I just feel it's a perfect fit," Foesel said via e-mail. "My coaches here at DePaul really provided me with great exposure and guidance through this whole process. The amount of contacts our coaches have is amazing. They go above and beyond for all of us with recruiting, whether it's a [FBS] guy or [Division III]. They're really on top of the whole process."
