Scouts Buzz: All-weather Hester

Bears WR/KR excels even on bad footing; let's hail Panthers' unsung lineman

After watching the Week 16 matchups, Scouts Inc. shares these key observations:

1. Devin Hester excels in less-than-ideal conditions. On Sunday on a choppy Soldier Field, the New York Jets learned the hard way. It's not as if they didn't know already, given that Hester skated to become the NFL's all-time return touchdown leader in a Week 15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. But in helping the Bears beat the Jets, Hester added to his reputation. Hester's short, quick steps and outstanding balance make him incredibly dangerous when conditions are poor. He has improved as a wide receiver and QB Jay Cutler likes going his way. I expect Hester to improve quite a bit in 2011 in his second season in Mike Martz's complicated offense.
