It's a family affair

When JaVale McGee came in second in the 2011 NBA slam dunk contest he brought his all -- and his mother -- to the performance. Adena Andrews caught up with JaVale's mom Pam, a former college basketball and WNBA star, following her appearance in her son's runner-up performance to talk about "bribing" the judges and her mother-son relationship.

The McGee duo is the first WNBA/NBA mother-son duo in the history of both leagues. JaVale is blessed with great basketball genes from his mom, Pam, who won back-to-back NCAA championships at USC alongside Cheryl Miller and Cynthia Cooper. She was drafted second overall in the WNBA's inaugural season and was an assistant coach for the Detroit Shock. Having a mom with such a high basketball IQ makes the phrase "momma's boy" the ultimate compliment for JaVale. I caught up with Pam immediately ...
