From the court to the yoga mat

Abby Waner has spent her entire life training to be an elite competitor. The women's basketball team at Duke is not the place to rest one's laurels, after all. So how will she respond to the Zen calm of a yoga class?

"Find your edge, and embrace it. If your body can't go further today, that's OK. Settle in, and breathe," my yoga instructor said yesterday. But wait -- my body has been trained to not only find that edge, but to meet it every single day and thrust past it with such force that I have exhausted any energy I once had. If I can't go further? Ha! Further is the only way I know to get better. As for breathing, that comes at the end of a workout.
