Chris Phillips gets extension

Veteran Ottawa defenseman Chris Phillips is off the trade market, having signed a three-year contract extension with the Senators on Sunday night.

He'll earn $2.75 million next season and $3.25 million each of the following years.

"Both on and off the ice, Chris embodies what we want from a Senators player, and we're proud that he'll remain a Senator for life," general manager Bryan Murray said in a statement.
