Another week, another breathless Honduran newspaper report placing Andy Najar on the brink of joining that country's national team.

Honduran daily Diez reported last week that Najar's agent, Chris Megaloudis, has been in talks with the Honduran federation to finalize a date for the DC United midfielder to join the under-20 team for World Cup qualifiers later this month in Guatemala.

That would mean the end of the wait for one of MLS' most promising young players to pick a national team. But Megaloudis says the story is just one more in a long line of erroneous reports dealing with the issue.

"We appreciate the Honduran federation's eagerness but there is nothing to support the claim that Andy will play for Honduras weeks from now in Guatemala," he said. "Andy will make an announcement on his international future when the time is right, and whether it is Honduras or the United States, he hopes to be included in that nation's plans for years to come."

So the news is that there's still no news. But despite the slew of premature reports, it would seem the 2010 MLS Rookie of the Year is in fact on the verge of making some sort of decision.
