Writing a wrong

'You're WRONG!' is a refrain heard frequently at the camp in Nigeria where Mo Akiode is performing her national service duty, surrounded by unforgiving soldiers. Gabbing on the cell phone when you're supposed to be marching? Wrong. Cutting down mosquito netting? Wrong. Complaining about the camp in this blog? Probably wrong, but she's doing it anyway.

Now that the euphoria of being in a new environment has pretty much dissipated, reality has set in. The camp ground is getting messier, and with no steady light or water, plus an insubordinate amount of heat, it's difficult to breathe. After a long day in the sun, we come back to heated rooms with no ventilation. Our only way to get relief: have a cold bucket wash, go outside, and take in the evening breeze.
